Climb to High Guard, Armbar from Closed Guard
3 Part Technique - Paul instructs his fundamental class on the keys toward the Armbar from Closed Guard. First, break his posture by pulling his forearm onto your chest as you climb up onto his shoulders for High Guard. Next, push his head under your leg and extend your hips for the armbar. If your opponent stands up in your guard, you can still climb and catch him with High Guard for the armbar, particularly in the case of his weight slightly forward. If the space isn't there to move your hips into position, post against his legs and drag him back down to his knees for another attempt at the armbar.
