1 Part Drill - Passing the Open Guard requires that you being from a stable, comfortable foundation before making your move. Your opponent will do everything he can to offset your balance, including controlling your ankles. When this happens, kick your foot counter-intuitively forward first, and then circle it back to free yourself from his grip. Just pulling instinctually backward with your foot is precisely what he is looking for you to do. The more you practice this motion, the more comfortable and apt to react you will become.
