2 Part Technique - Rather than trying to hover over and balancing yourself from getting swept by the Deep Half Guard, stop your opponent from getting so 'deep' in the first place by sprawling heavily against his entry with a crossface. Continue stretching your leg back to resist his deep underhook attempt and pummel for the farside underhook to establish the top position and initiate the pass. Attain Over & Under Control once you have the underhook by pulling his arm away from your leg and passing with the Over Under Pass vs Half Guard. However, sprawling to defend the Deep Half does not necessarily guarantee that you'll be able to secure the farside underhook. In the event that this happens, continuing sprawling until he decides to take your back with his underhook; meet his attempt with the Back Step Pass. Upon landing on the other side, immediately pummel for Underhook & Head Control to hold the position. Use your free leg to kick your trapped leg free from his remaining half guard to pass into Side Control.
